Monthly seminar for ILEE members to present their research during lunch, open for everybody.

Nicolas Gros (NISM, Physics): Analysis of the corroded surface of antique silver coins

Nicolas will demonstrate the challenges of non-invasive analysis of silver coins, with a focus on the characterisation of their corrosion products using Raman microscopy. He will also present how geological samples can be used as reference material.

Julien Poot (Geology): Oxidation rates and products: An XPS study

Julien will discuss new X‑ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) experiments conducted to investigate the subsurface evolution of nearly pure, naturally occurring pyrite and galena under controlled conditions. The aim is to establish analogies to weathering profiles.
